I think last weekend might have been the best weekend of my year so far.
To me celebrating Valentine’s Day is not just about spending it with a significant other, but also a day where I like to celebrate the valuable friendships I have with people.
Saturday, my friend and I attended a Banda concert/dance at the Anaheim Convention Center (a 30 minute drive from the UCI campus) Banda is a type of music typically played in Mexico. It’s music that I have grown up with and enjoy listening to, so when my friend told me about the bands that were going to be there, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Among the lineup was my favorite band, La Banda el Recodo. I had an amazing time singing along to their music with all the other fans there. We danced and sang so much that I felt my feet were going to give up on me and that I was going to loose my voice the next day.

To continue the celebration, Sunday night, a couple of my friends and I drove to Downtown San Diego for The Roots Factory 4 Year Anniversary Celebration. Las Cafeteras and Chicano Batman were going to perform so we were all very excited to see them. I loved their performances, I loved the music and the drive to and from the event were also part of my favorites, but what topped this night, was sleeping in on Monday and getting brunch at IHOP.

I’m kind of sad the long weekend is over, but I’m very happy that I got to spend it with such great company. I’m truly appreciative of all my friends for sharing these experiences with me and look forward to future hangout with them.
